What is OCD?
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is a mental health condition characterized by unwanted, intrusive thoughts (obsessions) that trigger significant anxiety, followed by repetitive behaviors or mental acts (compulsions) performed to reduce this distress. As an Obsessive Compulsive Disorder clinic, we teach clients how to break these patterns through proven therapeutic methods.
OCD affects approximately 2-3% of the population and can significantly impact daily functioning, relationships, and quality of life. While many people experience occasional intrusive thoughts or engage in repetitive behaviors, OCD involves patterns that:
- Consume excessive time (typically more than an hour daily)
- Cause significant distress
- Interfere with normal routines, relationships, or responsibilities
- Feel extremely difficult to resist despite recognizing they are excessive
- Common obsessions include fears of contamination, concerns about symmetry or exactness, unwanted aggressive or taboo thoughts, and excessive doubt. Compulsions often manifest as excessive cleaning, checking, counting, arranging, or mental rituals like repeated praying or reviewing. OCD is a treatable condition.
About Our Services
As a trusted OCD clinic in Texas, we offer an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) designed for meaningful results. Our 14-day concentrated model allows clients to stay connected to home while receiving focused care. This structure sets The OCD Clinics apart as a highly specialized OCD treatment center.
PROGRAM STRUCTURE: Three days per week of in-home, one-on-one treatment (4 hours per day)
Daily therapy support sessions throughout the program duration
Personalized care within a familiar setting to enhance comfort and practical application
Comprehensive Assessment: We begin with a thorough initial evaluation to understand your specific OCD symptoms, triggers, and circumstances. This crucial first step ensures that we capture the unique nature of your experience.
INDIVIDUALIZED TREATMENT PLANNING: Following the assessment, we develop a customized treatment plan tailored to your specific needs. We recognize that OCD manifests differently in each person, requiring personalized approaches rather than one-size-fits-all solutions.
CLINICAL EXPERTISE: With more than 25 years of clinical experience, our team has treated hundreds of individuals with diverse OCD presentations. As one of the best OCD specialists groups in the region, we can manage complex or treatment-resistant cases with confidence.
EVIDENCE-BASED APPROACH: Our methods are grounded in proven therapeutic techniques while being flexible enough to adapt to your unique situation and recovery goals.
LASTING RESULTS: Our intensive format is designed to create meaningful change within a condensed timeframe, providing skills and strategies that extend well beyond the program’s conclusion.
As a Center for OCD Therapy, our mission is simple: reduce suffering and help clients reclaim their lives. We understand the courage it takes to seek help, and we remain committed to providing compassionate, effective care every step of the way.
Our Story
In 2007, what began as a simple gesture of friendship accompanying someone with OCD to the International OCD Foundation‘s annual conference in Houston became the catalyst for transforming countless lives. As a seasoned therapist, I thought I understood mental health challenges, but that conference opened my eyes to three profound realizations that would forever change my professional path.
First, I witnessed the true depth of suffering that individuals with OCD endure, a level of anguish that far exceeded what most mental health professionals truly comprehend. Second, I learned something that stopped me in my tracks: effective treatment techniques had existed for four decades, yet countless individuals continued to suffer needlessly.
Finally, and most crucially, I discovered a critical gap in care: while there were proven treatment methods, there was both a shortage of trained clinicians and no existing model for providing treatment where it was often needed most in patients’ homes.
This realization was more than just an “aha” moment it was a call to action. What began as support for a friend grew into a mission to reshape OCD care. We created a program that brings expert treatment directly into people’s homes. As the best OCD clinic in Texas, we now meet clients where their struggles happen and where healing can become truly effective.
Our Mission
We exist to meet people in their hardest moments—when OCD has taken control and traditional treatment hasn’t been enough. By bringing intensive, evidence-based therapy directly into clients’ homes throughout Texas, we remove the barriers that keep people stuck and deliver the specialized care that creates lasting freedom. Every clinician, every session, every support call exists for one purpose: helping individuals reclaim their lives from OCD and step back into the relationships, work, and daily experiences that matter most.

Jay Jeter, LPC-S, BTTI-Trained (IOCDF)
Founder & Clinical Director
About Jay (Founder & Clinical Director)
Jay Jeter is the founder of The OCD Clinics and a Licensed Professional Counselor–Supervisor with more than 25 years of clinical experience.
In 2007, he attended the International OCD Foundation’s annual conference — and came away with a conviction that reshaped his career: he had seen the true depth of suffering OCD causes, learned that effective treatment had existed for decades, and recognized that too few clinicians were trained to deliver it where clients needed it most. He built The OCD Clinics to close that gap, bringing expert, evidence-based care directly into clients’ homes.
Trained through the IOCDF’s Behavior Therapy Training Institute, Jay specializes in Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) — the gold-standard treatment for OCD — integrated with Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). He works across the full range of OCD presentations, including complex and long-standing cases that haven’t responded to traditional weekly therapy.
As Clinical Director, Jay sets the standard of care every clinician at The OCD Clinics is held to, and personally trains and supervises the master’s-level team that carries it into each client’s home. He also provides continuing education to other therapists. His approach is practical, collaborative, and grounded in compassion — meeting each client where their OCD actually lives and helping them build skills that last.
Please note: Jay does not accept clients with child custody issues or CPS involvement, and does not complete disability applications.
Karly Kothmann
LPC, BTTI-Trained (IOCDF)
About Karly
Karly Kothmann is trained through the International OCD Foundation’s Behavior Therapy Training Institute, and her work with clients facing moderate-to-severe OCD has become a signature of The OCD Clinics. She delivers Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) — the evidence-based gold standard for OCD — within the clinic’s intensive in-home program.
Karly works across the full range of OCD presentations, including contamination fears, checking compulsions, harm and taboo obsessions, scrupulosity, and “just-right” OCD. She is especially effective with adolescents and families navigating a child’s OCD, helping young clients return to school, routine, and connection after OCD has narrowed their world.
Clients and families consistently describe Karly as knowledgeable, confident, and deeply compassionate — someone who empowers them to do the hard work of recovery while walking beside them at every step.
Michael Wong
LPC, BTTI-Trained (IOCDF)
About Michael
Michael Wong is a Licensed Professional Counselor trained through the International OCD Foundation’s Behavior Therapy Training Institute. He provides Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) within The OCD Clinics’ intensive in-home program.
Michael is particularly skilled in treating primarily obsessional OCD — often called “Pure O” — where intrusive thoughts dominate and compulsions are largely mental and hidden. These presentations are frequently misunderstood and underdiagnosed, which makes Michael an especially valuable resource for clients whose OCD lives mostly in their heads: unwanted intrusive, harm, sexual, or religious obsessions; relationship OCD; and chronic mental rumination and reassurance-seeking.
Working collaboratively and without judgment, Michael helps clients change how they relate to their thoughts rather than fight or suppress them — building the psychological flexibility that makes lasting recovery possible. He is especially effective with clients who have made limited progress in traditional therapy and need a more intensive, structured approach.
Marco Mar
LPC, BTTI-Trained (IOCDF)
About Marco
Marco Mar is a Licensed Professional Counselor trained through the International OCD Foundation’s Behavior Therapy Training Institute. He works with children, teens, and adults across the full range of OCD presentations, delivering Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) — the gold standard for OCD — within the clinic’s intensive in-home program.
Marco integrates ERP with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), helping clients restructure unhelpful thought patterns, unhook from rigid mental rituals, and move toward a values-based life. He establishes trust quickly and creates the kind of safe, non-judgmental space that the vulnerability of OCD treatment requires.
In addition to his OCD specialization, Marco is trained in EMDR for trauma-related concerns — valuable for clients whose OCD coexists with a trauma history. He brings patience, insight, and genuine warmth to every stage of the work.
